There are so many variances when it comes to bumper bars. Some are the same colour as the vehicle and some aren’t. There are more and more textured bumper bars or some that have a small textured section. Moulded plastic and even two toned are ever present out on the roads. Colour Coded………
When the technicians repair a plastic bumper bar that is colour coded the same as your vehicle, it’s simple. Using the colour code from your vehicle and the computer program on board the van the paint will be mixed and colour matched aiming for that perfect repair. If a bumper bar of the same colour is also cracked or dented the technician would either use heat to improve dents or epoxy patches to repair cracks. Heat is used to improve the dent as best possible which will minimise the amount of filler required, the last thing you want is your vehicle filled with bog. Epoxy patches are great for offering strength to the cracked area on the bumper bar to ensure it doesn’t come apart.
Two Toned……..
Our technicians are often called out for the mobile plastic bumper repairs that involve more than just the one area. Some vehicles have a two toned bumper bar. In this case majority of the bumper is the same colour as your vehicle. They may also have a small insert at the bottom that is painted a different colour. Again, no problems at all as this is taken into account when quoting. The technician will just need to mix two different paints rather than the usual one. This repair is considered as two repairs as both will need to be masked up and painted individually.
Moulded or Textured…….
Bumper bars often have sections that are either textured or moulded black plastic, it is sometimes better to replace rather than repair some of these bumper parts. Although we do not supply these parts we can fit the new part for a small cost if you have it there on the day of repairs. Repairing the moulded or textured trims can be quite effective but do have to say it will not be 100% in every way. Although it will look cosmetically pleasing it will have a different feel to it once repaired.
